Mt.Tsukuba's Tsutsuji (Azalea)
About 3,000 Tsutsuji (Azalea) trees can be seen in Mt.Tsukuba. Tsutsuji starts blooming from the hillside around cable car station and the mountain's ume forest (300m above sea level) at the end of April, and can be enjoyed at the top of Mt. Tsukuba (877m above sea level) in the middle of May.

Tsukuba Festival
An iternational exchange event which apeals the charm of the international city Tsukuba. Featuring the theme "Interaction and International Exchange", it provides an opportunity for citizens living in and out of Tsukuba to interact with various cultures of the world.

Matsuri Tsukuba
The biggest festival of the city which apart from absolutely powerful and huge parade featuring Mikoshi (portable shrine), Hayashi (musical accompoaniment) and Nebuta (huge lantern arts), includes plenty of other enjoyable events such as street performances and stage shows, and various food and drink stalls.

Tsukuba Marathon
Official course of the Japan Association of Athletics Federations centering around University of Tsukuba Athletic Field. More than 15,000 runners participate every year.

Ceremony for 20-year-olds in Tsukuba
Tsukuba City holds a gathering to celebrate people turning 20 during the current school year. You will see 20-year-olds in colorful kimonos (dresses) and new formal suits.

Mt. Tsukuba Ume (Plum) Festival
The festival takes place at the Plum garden on the hillside of Mt. Tsukuba. With an area of approx. 4.5 hectares (250m above sea level), about 1,000 red and white plum trees are planted in the garden.
