Recruitment of Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) for FY 2027-2028

This is to announce the recruitment of Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) at elementary schools, junior high schools and compulsory education schools in City of Tsukuba. Working conditions and the number of new hires may change depending on the annual budget for 2026.

Period of assignment

From April 1st, 2027 to March 31st, 2028

Work location

Municipal Elementary schools, junior high schools and compulsory education schools in Tsukuba City

Number of positions

Approx. 40

Job duties

1. Overall assistance in foreign language (English) activities and classes
2. Creating teaching materials for English classes
3. Assistance for foreign language (English) presentation forums and similar activities
4. Assistance for foreign language (English) teacher training program
5. Assistance for educational programs on international understanding
6. Cooperation for extracurricular activities such as club activities
7. Assistance for children with a foreign background
8. Any other tasks related to enhancing English education and promoting international understanding

Working hours

Monday - Friday（excluding Saturday, Sunday, National Holidays and December 29th to January 3rd）

7 hours and 45 minutes per day between 8:00am and 5:15pm (includes 45 minutes break) when working at school

8:30am to 5:15pm (including 60 minutes break) in the case of working outside of school such as during school’s summer break.

*You may be required to do overtime work when the principal deems it to be necessary.

Requirements

(1) Native speaker of English or equivalent proficiency
(2) University degree or higher
(3) Japanese language proficiency at the level of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test N4 (Level 3) or higher, with the ability to explain lesson plans in Japanese.
(4) Have a valid Japanese driver’s license issued by a prefectural public safety commission at the time of application, and be able to commute within the city by private car from the employment start date.
(5) Be able to obtain an appropriate work visa by the hiring date.
(6) Have more than one year of experience working as an ALT at Japanese elementary and junior high schools, or currently working as an ALT in Tsukuba City.

Individuals who meet any of the following criteria are ineligible to apply for the examination:
(1) Those subject to the provisions of Article 16 of the Local Public Service Act:
1. Persons who have been sentenced to imprisonment and are serving their sentence, or until the completion of the execution of the sentence or until they no longer have to serve it.
2. Persons who have been dismissed from employment as a staff member of Tsukuba City due to disciplinary action, and for whom less than two years have elapsed since the date of such dismissal.
3. Persons who have established or joined a political party or other organization advocating the violent overthrow of the Government constituted under the Constitution of Japan.
(2) Those who fall under the specified sexual offense facts as set forth in Article 2, Paragraph 8 of the Act on Measures for Prevention of Sexual Violence, etc., Against Children by School Establishers and Private Education and Childcare Providers.
 

 Salary

* Including the regional allowance. In addition to the above, commuting allowance, year-end bonus, diligence allowance, and overtime allowance will be provided.

*Please note that both the online form and the video must be submitted. Failure to submit either one will result in disqualification from the second stage of the examination.
*If there are many applicants, the application period may close early.

3. Copy of certificate of graduation from university/college

つくば市では外国語指導助手（ALT）を募集しています

つくば市内の小・中・義務教育学校で外国語指導の補助をする方を次のとおり募集します。なお、令和9年度予算の決定によっては、勤務条件、募集人数等が変更となる可能性があります。

任用期間

令和9年（2027年）4月1日から令和10年（2028年）3月31日まで

勤務内容

1. 児童及び生徒に対する外国語（英語）活動及び外国語（英語）の授業補助
2. 外国語（英語）教育教材の作成
3. 外国語（英語）プレゼンテーションフォーラム等の補助
4. 外国語（英語）担当教員に対する外国語（英語）研修の補助
5. 国際理解教育に関する協力
6. 児童及び生徒のクラブ活動等課外活動への協力
7. 外国につながりのある児童及び生徒の支援
8. その他外国語教育の充実及び国際理解の促進のため必要なこと

勤務形態

毎週月曜日から金曜日（土日祝日および12月29日から1月3日までを除く）

午前8時00分から午後5時15分までのうち1日7時間45分（休憩45分）

学校以外での勤務日（学校の休業期間中等）は午前8時30分から午後5時15分まで（休憩1時間）

※学校長が必要と認めた場合は、時間外勤務を命ずることがあります。

応募資格

1．以下の条件をすべて満たすもの（即戦力採用）とする。
（1）英語を母語とする方又は同等の能力を有すること
（2）大学卒業以上の学力を有すること
（3）日本語能力試験N4（3級）程度若しくはそれ以上を保持していること。授業計画を日本語で説明できる日本語力を有すること
（4）応募時に日本国（都道府公安委員会）発行の運転免許証を所持し、勤務開始日には自家用車で市内を移動できる状態であること
（5）採用日までに適正な就労査証を保持することが可能であること
（6）日本の小学校と中学校でALTとして1年以上の勤務経験がある、もしくは現在つくば市のALTとして勤務していること

2． 次のいずれかに該当する者は受験できません。
（1）地方公務員法第16条の規定に該当する者
① 拘禁刑に処せられ、その執行を終わるまで又は執行を受けることがなくなるまでの者
② つくば市の職員として懲戒免職の処分を受け、当該処分の日から2年を経過しない者
③ 日本国憲法又はその下に成立した政府を暴力で破壊することを主張する政党その他の団体を結成し、又はこれに加入した者
（2）学校設置者等及び民間教育保育等事業者による児童対象性暴力等の防止等のための措置に関する法律第2条第8項に規定する特定性犯罪事実に該当する者

※地域手当を含みます。上記のほか、通勤手当、期末手当、勤勉手当、時間外勤務手当が支給されます。

① 職員室で、日本人の同僚の先生たちに自己紹介をする場面を想定して、日本語で話す動画を撮影してください。（1分間）
② 教室で小学5、6年生に自分の国について紹介する場面を想定して、英語でプレゼンテーションをしている動画を撮影してください。（1分間）
③ ①と②を続けて撮影し、1つの動画としてまとめておいてください。
