大型連休に向けて感染予防対策についての市長コメント（2022年4月28日）

日々の皆様の感染防止へのご協力に心から御礼を申し上げます。

令和4年に入ってから、全国各地でオミクロン株の急拡大により、連日過去最多の感染者数を更新しました。現在新規感染者数は、全国的に減少傾向にあるものの、オミクロン株BA.2系統への置き換わりが急速に進んだことにより、高止まりの状況にあります。つくば市における感染者数も、先週から前の週の同じ曜日を下回る日が続いており、まだ収束という状況ではありませんが、低減傾向は見て取れます。

これからゴールデンウィークを迎え、遠方のご家族に久しぶりにお会いする方や、旅行やレジャーを楽しむ方もいらっしゃると思います。新型コロナウイルスも発生から3年目となり、感染対策をきちんと取りながら、徐々に社会経済活動を再開させていくタイミングであると考えていますが、基本的な感染防止対策をとっていただくことにより、感染リスクは相当程度低減することがわかっています。対策を取りながら、少しでも体調に異変を感じた場合には、検査や診察を受けていただくようにお願いいたします。

なお、ワクチン接種の有効性はオミクロン株においても確認されています。若い世代で感染者数が増えていますので、接種券が届きましたら、3回目の接種を是非ご検討お願いします。

Mayor’s comment regarding precautions during the Golden Week Holidays

I would like to sincerely thank you for your efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Since the start of this year, the Omicron variant has spiked throughout the country, reaching a new record number of cases every day. Though the current number of new cases is on the decline nationwide, it still remains high due to the Omicron subvariant known as BA.2 rapidly replacing earlier Omicron variants. Although we are not at the point yet where the pandemic is over, we are fortunately seeing a downward trend in Tsukuba City with cases dropping week on week for the last two weeks.

With the Golden Week holidays coming up, I assume some of you will be seeing distant family members for the first time in a long time, or planning a trip somewhere. We are in the third year of COVID-19 and I believe it is time to gradually resume socio-economic activities with appropriate infection measures in place. It has been proved that basic prevention measures can considerably lower the risk of infection. Please continue to take such measures and see a doctor or take a test if you feel unwell - even with only very mild symptoms.

The vaccination is confirmed to be effective against the Omicron variant as well. The number of cases is on the rise among the younger generation, so please consider receiving your third dose when you receive a third vaccination voucher.
For your reference, the attached charts below show the COVID-19 infection situation in Ibaraki Prefecture and Tsukuba City as of April, 2022.

N.B. Please note that the data by age and occupation is only available for the prefecture as a whole, because Tsukuba City does not possess such data.
