Mt.Tsukuba's Tsutsuji (Azalea)
About 3,000 Tsutsuji (Azalea) trees can be seen in Mt.Tsukuba. Tsutsuji starts blooming from the hillside around cable car station and the mountain's ume forest (300m above sea level) at the end of April, and can be enjoyed at the top of Mt. Tsukuba (877m above sea level) in the middle of May.

Official course of the Japan Association of Athletics Federations centering around University of Tsukuba Athletic Field. More than 15,000 runners participate every year.

Coming of Age Day Ceremony in Tsukuba
Tsukuba City holds a gathering which celebrates the Coming of Age. People who turned (or will turn) 20 during the current school year attends the ceremony dressed up in colorful kimonos (dresses) and new formal suits.

Mt. Tsukuba Ume (Plum) Festival
The festival takes place at the Plum garden on the hillside of Mt. Tsukuba. With an area of approx. 4.5 hectares (250m above sea level), about 1,000 red and white plum trees are planted in the garden.
