COVID-19 Vaccination for children from 5 to 11 years old

COVID-19 vaccination is not mandatory. Children and their parents or guardians should learn about the advantage (such as preventing infection and severe illness) and disadvantage (such as side effects) of COVID-19 vaccination before getting vaccinated.

The provision of Article 9 of the Immunization Act, which states that "efforts must be made to receive vaccinations," known as the "duty of effort," does not apply to vaccinations for children from 5 to 11 years old.

Sending of Vaccination Vouchers and Making an Appointment

Tsukuba City will send vaccination vouchers for children from 5 to 11 years old in early March. Appointments are available from the time you receive your child’s vaccination voucher.

Appointment of the second vaccination

Appointment of the second vaccination will be available from the next day of the first vaccination. Please note that the interval between the first vaccination and the second vaccination appointment should be three weeks. It is recommended to consult with the vaccination site at the time of first vaccination.
