Appointments at Ibaraki Prefecture's mass vaccination site will be available again.
Appointments for mass vaccination by Ibaraki Prefecture will be available at 8:30 a.m. on September 1st (Wed).
Mass vaccination sites:
・National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology （AIST）(1-1-2 Higashi, Tsukuba)
・【New】Ibaraki Prefectural University of Health Sciences(4669-2 Ami, Ami-machi Inashiki-gun)
Both sites offer Moderna vaccine.

Regarding Contamination of Takeda/Moderna Vaccine
COVID-19 vaccine will be offered at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) as scheduled including today (August 26).
Ibaraki Prefecture informed us that AIST had not offered any vaccine doses with lot numbers suspected to be contaminated, so people already vaccinated at AIST do not need to worry about the possible contamination of the vaccine.
We will continue to work with Ibaraki Prefecture to provide information important to our residents as needed.
Q&A Regarding Suspension of using Moderna Vaccine
- Is the vaccine I was administered suspected to be contaminated?
- Vaccines with the following lot numbers are suspected to be contaminated.
The lot number of your vaccine is printed on your “Certification of Vaccination for COVID-19” attached to the vaccination voucher.
- Did AIST use vaccines that were suspended?
- No, AIST does not have any record of offering the suspended vaccines.
- Is there any problem if I get vaccine of different lot number?
- No, there is not.
- Are vaccines going to be offered as scheduled?
- Yes, they will be offered as scheduled.
New appointments at Ibaraki Prefecture's mass vaccination site (National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology)
Appointments at Ibaraki Prefecture’s mass vaccination site, which resumed at 8:30 a.m. on August 5 (Thu), are no longer accepted, because all available slots have been booked.
COVID-19 Mass Vaccination Site by Ibaraki Prefecture
To accelerate the rollout of COVID-19 vaccination, Ibaraki Prefecture will open 5 mass vaccination sites within the Prefecture.
In Tsukuba City, mass vaccination started at AIST on July 10 (Saturday). (The vaccine offered at the site is Takeda/Moderna.)
Takeda/Moderna vaccine is suitable for use by people aged 12 years and above.

How to access AIST
(If the main road in front of the main gate is congested, it will cause inconvenience to nearby residents and affect traffic throughout the city.)
1. Shuttle bus
(1) Between TX Kenkyu-gakuen Station and AIST
(2) Between Sakura Community Center (つくば市役所旧桜庁舎) and AIST

2. Public Transportation
(1) From TX Tsukuba station
Take a local bus from bus stop No.4 bound for Gakuen-minami circulation (clockwise rotation) 学園南循環（右回り）, JR Joban line Arakawaoki station (荒川沖駅), Gakuen namiki(学園並木), or Sakura New Town（桜ニュータウン）for 15 minutes, get off at Namiki 2 cho-me（並木2丁目） and walk for 8 minutes. Bus fare is 280 JPY.
(2) From JR Joban line Arakawaoki station
Take a local bus from west exit bus stop No.4 bound for Tsukuba University Chuo（筑波大学中央）or Tsukuba Center (TX Tsukuba Station) (つくばセンター) for 15 minutes, get off at Namiki 2 cho-me（並木2丁目） and walk for 8 minutes. Bus fare is 290 JPY.
3. Private car
Please refrain from going to AIST by private car, except for those with unavoidable reasons such as physical disabilities.
If visiting by private car for unavoidable reasons, you can enter only main gate facing Prefectural Road 55 (Gakuen Higashi Odori) from 9:30am. A staff will check whether you have a vaccination voucher.
N.B. No entry is allowed through any gate other than the main gate.
How to access Ibaraki Prefectural University of Health Sciences
1 From JR Tsuchiura Station
Take a local bus from west exit bus stop No.1 bound for Ami Chuo Kouminkan (阿見中央公民館) or Wakaguri (若栗) for 25 minutes, get off at Kenritsu Iryou Daigaku Iriguch(県立医療大学入口) and walk for 5 minutes. Bus fare is 420 JPY.
2 From JR Arakawaoki Station
Take a local bus from east exit No.1 for Kenritsu Iryou Daigaku Mae(県立医療大学前) for 20 minutes, get off at last stop Kenritsu Iryou Daigaku Mae(県立医療大学前). Bus fare is 360 JPY.
3 Private Car
阿見町総合保健福祉会館 さわやかセンター 南側駐車場South parking lot at Sawayaka Center, Ami-machi Sogo Hoken Fukushi Kaikan (Address: 4671-1 Ami Ami-machi )
You cannot park your car at the car park of Ibaraki Prefectural University of Health Sciences.
You are not allowed to enter through the main gate of Sawayaka Center, Ami-machi Sogo Hoken Fukushi Kaikan or drive inside the premises. Please park at the designated parking area for mass vaccination which you will find soon after entering the south parking lot.
There will be parking spaces for persons with disabilities next to the gymnasium of Ibaraki Prefectural University of Health Sciences. Please ask the staff at the main gate of Sawayaka Center.
※Please follow the instructions of the staff when parking your car.
※There will be shuttle bus services between the parking lot and the gymnasium which is the mass vaccination site.
Please note that you do not need to make an appointment for your second dose. You will be offered your second dose 4 weeks after your first dose at the same vaccination site and at the same appointment time as your first dose.
Appointment date and time cannot be changed. Please make an appointment
when both dates and time are available.
Change or Cancel of Appointment
Change or cancel of appointment is available online until 5:00pm of two days before the appointment date. If you happen to be in a situation of not being able to get the vaccination after this date (due to illness etc.), please contact Ibaraki Prefecture Mass Vaccination Call Center (0570-056-767) on your own.
Call center is available every day from 8:45am-8:45pm.
Please note that cancel without notification will cause vaccination disposal, make sure to contact the site.
